I forgot one thing...Diana Ross also told a cute little girl (approximately 6 or 7) that Santa Clause didn't exist...she told her very nicely though.

A Selfie From a Paris Night in 1996 (4/17/25)

I recently took a selfie, and the face staring back at me wasn’t exactly what I had hoped it would be. There were lines I didn’t want to see, the eyes were a little bloodshot from seasonal allergies (yay spring), the hair was too stringy, and the woman in the picture just looked less put together than I legit felt myself to be. "Nope…not today," I thought. I immediately went to the app store and signed up for a free 7-day subscription to a photo-editor app. After trying a few different features (it started out with changing the lighting and smoothing out some of the lines, but quickly led to making the nose smaller and brightening the eyes), the woman in the picture looked much better. She also looked 10 years younger, like her skin routine cost a small fortune, and like she hadn’t gotten up at 5 am to go for a run before work. Oh…and she looked nothing like me. An Upside Down World and Paper Cranes (10/24/24)

My mornings are often very much the same: Wake up Workout Shower Coffee Wordle Quordle Connections Email News Instantly tailspin into the overwhelming sense that the world is falling apart…more specifically, an instant tailspin into intense fear of our political situation and what will happen 2 weeks from today (today being Thursday, October 24, 2024 and 2 weeks from the 2024 election). The other day, Dave walked into the kitchen and said, “Dearest, we have a lot of basil in the garden. Let’s have something pesto based for dinner on Sunday.” To which I responded, “That’s perfect, I always love the opportunity to make my special family pesto recipe, the one handed down through generations and crushed with the special mortar and pestle that my great, great, great grandmother brought over from Italy. Making that pesto always makes me feel closer to the generations who came before me. Amazing idea, my love, I will pick up some pine nuts and fresh pasta when I go to the farmers market tomorrow.
